Effective date: 12 May 2026
This Privacy Policy explains how Ronbot1984 ("we," "us," or "our"), operated by Ronald Fahy, collects, uses, and shares information when you use the mobile application River Drift (the "App"). By downloading or using the App, you agree to the practices described below.
Who We Are
The App is published by Ronbot1984, operated by Ronald Fahy. We act as the data controller (under the EU/UK GDPR) and the business (under the California Consumer Privacy Act) for the personal information described in this policy.
If you have any questions, you can reach us at privacy@ronbot1984.com.
Information We Collect
We have intentionally designed River Drift to collect as little personal information as possible. The App does not require you to create an account, and we never ask for your name, email address, password, or payment information. The categories of information we collect are described below.
Information you provide to us
- Nickname. If you choose to submit a score to the global leaderboard, you may enter a nickname. The nickname does not need to identify you and we encourage you not to use your real name. The nickname is publicly visible alongside your score.
Information collected automatically
- Device identifier. We generate or store a pseudonymous device or installation identifier so that we can associate leaderboard scores with a device and help prevent cheating. This identifier is not linked to your name or contact information, is never displayed publicly, and is not used for advertising or cross-app tracking.
- Advertising identifier (IDFA). On iOS, the Apple Identifier for Advertisers (IDFA) is collected by Google's Mobile Ads SDK only if you grant permission through Apple's App Tracking Transparency (ATT) prompt. If you do not grant permission, you will only receive non-personalized advertising.
- Gameplay and score data. Your high score, the date the score was achieved, and the nickname associated with it.
- Technical and analytics data. Device model, operating system version, language, country (derived from IP), approximate session timing, crash diagnostics, and basic interaction events collected through Firebase Analytics.
- Advertising data. Information generated by the Google Mobile Ads SDK in order to serve ads, measure ad performance, and prevent fraud (for example: IP address, coarse location derived from IP, ad-interaction events, and the advertising identifier described above).
Leaderboard Information
If you submit a score to the global leaderboard, the following information is visible to other players inside the App: your chosen nickname, your score, your rank, and the date the score was set. We recommend that you do not use your real name, the name of someone you know, or any other information that could identify you personally.
The device or installation identifier we use internally to associate a score with a device is never displayed publicly and is never shared with other players, advertisers, or third parties for advertising purposes.
You can ask us to remove a leaderboard entry at any time by emailing privacy@ronbot1984.com from the device used to submit the score and including the nickname you used.
How We Use Your Information
We use the information described above for the following purposes:
- To operate, maintain, and improve the App, including its core gameplay features.
- To display, rank, and manage the global high-score leaderboard.
- To serve advertising inside the App through Google AdMob, including personalized advertising where you have consented and non-personalized advertising where you have not.
- To understand how the App is used through aggregated analytics so we can fix bugs and improve performance.
- To detect, investigate, and prevent fraud, cheating, abuse, and security incidents.
- To comply with applicable laws and respond to lawful requests from public authorities.
Third-Party Services
To deliver the App we rely on the following third-party processors. Each operates under its own privacy policy, which we encourage you to review.
Google AdMob (Google Mobile Ads SDK)
AdMob is provided by Google LLC and is used to serve advertising inside the App. AdMob may process device identifiers, IP address, ad-interaction data, and (where you consent) the IDFA, in order to serve ads, measure their effectiveness, and prevent ad fraud.
Learn more in Google's Privacy & Terms: https://policies.google.com/privacy. You can also review how Google uses data when you use partners' apps at https://policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites.
Firebase (Google LLC)
We use the following Firebase products, all provided by Google LLC:
- Cloud Firestore / Realtime Database. Stores leaderboard entries (nickname, device identifier, score, and timestamp).
- Firebase Analytics. Provides aggregated app-usage analytics.
- Firebase Crashlytics (where enabled). Collects crash and diagnostic data to help us fix problems.
Firebase data is processed on Google's infrastructure, primarily in the United States. See Google's privacy notice at https://firebase.google.com/support/privacy.
App Tracking Transparency (iOS)
On iOS devices, you will be shown Apple's App Tracking Transparency (ATT) prompt before any tracking across other apps or websites occurs. If you choose "Ask App Not to Track," we and our advertising partners will not use the IDFA to deliver personalized ads, and Google AdMob will serve only non-personalized advertising. You can change your choice at any time in Settings → Privacy & Security → Tracking on your device.
Children's Privacy
River Drift is intended for a general audience and is not specifically directed at children under the age of 13 (or under 16 in the European Economic Area and the United Kingdom). However, because children may play casual mobile games, we have configured Google AdMob to serve only non-personalized advertising to users who indicate or are reasonably likely to be a child.
We do not knowingly collect personal information from children beyond the minimum required to display a public score. If you believe that a child has provided us with information they should not have, please contact us at privacy@ronbot1984.com and we will delete the relevant leaderboard entry.
Legal Bases for Processing (EU / UK Users)
If you are located in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, or Switzerland, we rely on the following legal bases under the GDPR:
- Performance of a contract / our terms. To deliver the gameplay and leaderboard features you request.
- Legitimate interests. To secure the App, prevent cheating and fraud, maintain fair leaderboard rankings, serve non-personalized advertising, and analyse usage in aggregate to improve the product.
- Consent. Where required by law, we request consent before collecting analytics data or serving personalized advertising through Apple's ATT prompt on iOS and through an in-app consent prompt where EU or UK law requires one. You may withdraw your consent at any time.
- Legal obligation. Where we must process data to comply with applicable law.
International Data Transfers
The processors described in this policy (Google LLC and its affiliates) are based in the United States and may process your information outside your country of residence. Where personal data is transferred from the EEA, the UK, or Switzerland to a country that has not received an adequacy decision, the transfer is protected by Standard Contractual Clauses adopted by the European Commission and, where applicable, the UK International Data Transfer Addendum.
Data Retention
- Leaderboard entries (nickname, device identifier, score). Retained for as long as the leaderboard exists, unless you ask us to delete a specific entry.
- Analytics data. Retained in Firebase Analytics for up to 14 months, after which it is aggregated or deleted.
- Advertising data. Retained by Google in accordance with its own retention schedules. See Google's Privacy & Terms.
- Crash and diagnostic data. Retained for up to 90 days for debugging purposes.
Your Rights (EU / UK Users)
Subject to local law, you have the following rights with respect to your personal data:
- The right to access the personal data we hold about you.
- The right to request correction of inaccurate or incomplete data.
- The right to request erasure of your data.
- The right to restrict or object to certain processing, including direct marketing.
- The right to data portability where applicable.
- The right to withdraw consent at any time without affecting the lawfulness of prior processing.
- The right to lodge a complaint with your local supervisory authority.
To exercise any of these rights, please contact us at privacy@ronbot1984.com. Because we do not collect names or contact details, please send your request from the device that runs the App and include your leaderboard nickname so that we can locate your entry.
Your Rights (California Residents)
If you are a California resident, the California Consumer Privacy Act (as amended by the CPRA) gives you the following rights regarding personal information we collect about you:
- The right to know what categories and specific pieces of personal information we collect, use, disclose, and (if applicable) sell or share.
- The right to request deletion of personal information we have collected, subject to legal exceptions.
- The right to correct inaccurate personal information.
- The right to opt out of the "sale" or "sharing" of personal information for cross-context behavioural advertising. We do not sell personal information for money. To the extent that the use of advertising identifiers for personalized ads through Google AdMob constitutes a "sale" or "sharing" under California law, you can opt out by responding "Ask App Not to Track" to Apple's ATT prompt or by enabling Limit Ad Tracking on your device.
- The right not to receive discriminatory treatment for exercising any of these rights.
To exercise these rights, contact us at privacy@ronbot1984.com. You may also designate an authorised agent to make a request on your behalf; we will require reasonable proof of authorisation.
Data Security
We rely on the security controls provided by Apple, Google, and Firebase to protect the limited information we collect. While no system can be guaranteed to be completely secure, we take reasonable technical and organisational measures designed to protect your information against unauthorised access, alteration, disclosure, or destruction.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes to the App, our practices, or applicable law. When we make material changes, we will update the "Effective date" at the top of this policy and, where required, notify you in-app. We encourage you to review this page periodically.
